Therapy activities

Keep each discipline's list of exercises and drills, and choose what clinicians record when they perform each one.

Therapy activities are the exercises and drills your clinicians perform in sessions, such as resistance band rows in occupational therapy (OT) or picture naming in speech therapy (SLP). Clinicians pick them onto a note's activity flowsheet and record the dose and support for each one.

Open Setup > Clinical libraries > Therapy Activities to see the list. Anyone with access to Setup can see it; only people whose role can manage clinical libraries can change it.

What an activity records#

Each activity chooses the fields the note shows for it, so an OT exercise does not ask for speech trials:

FieldWhat the clinician enters
SetsHow many sets
RepetitionsRepetitions per set
DurationMinutes spent on the activity
Equipment or resistanceFree text, such as Red band or 2 lb
TrialsCorrect trials out of trials attempted
AssistanceIndependent through dependent
CueingIndependent through maximal cues

Every activity also takes an optional goal from the plan of care and a short note on the patient's response.

Add an activity#

  1. Click New Activity.
  2. Choose the Discipline and enter the Name. A Category, such as Fine motor, groups it on the list; pick one your clinic already uses or type a new one (see Term lists).
  3. Under Records, choose what clinicians record for it.
  4. Optionally enter defaults, such as Default sets or Default trials. A new entry on a note starts with them. A default shows only while its item is chosen under Records; turning the item off drops its default when you save.
  5. Click Create Activity.

Each name can be used once per discipline.

Edit, deactivate or delete#

Open the menu on a row and choose Edit to change the name, category, what it records or its defaults. Notes keep the name they recorded, so a rename changes only later notes.

Choose Deactivate to take an activity out of the flowsheet picker; notes that recorded it keep it. You can delete an activity only while no note has recorded it; after that, deactivate it instead.

Export and print#

Click Export CSV to download the list as a spreadsheet file, or Print for a PDF of the list. See Import, export and print.
