ABA

ABA staffing

How ABA care teams, technician staffing, case leads and supervision work, and the technician registration states.

These screens appear when your clinic has the ABA module. In ABA screens a patient is called a learner; it is the same patient chart.

Unstaffed learners#

An ABA episode is staffed once a technician is on the care team. Learners without one appear on the shared unstaffed patients list with their case lead.

Care team roles#

An ABA care team uses its own roles: Case lead, Assistant analyst, Technician and Coordinator. Each learner has one case lead at a time. Flag one member as Clinical supervisor; the care team page warns when no current member is flagged. See care team.

Case lead per coverage#

Name the analyst used as rendering or supervising provider on a payer's ABA claims with the coverage's case lead.

Supervision#

ABA supervision follows the credential types (credential types): a technician is supervised by an assistant analyst or an analyst, and an assistant analyst by an analyst. Each supervisee has one Primary supervisor at a time and any number of others. A primary supervisor cannot be deactivated while they still have primary supervisees. See providers. The monthly supervision logs are in ABA supervision.

State technician registration#

Louisiana, Nevada, Oregon and Washington register behavior technicians. A technician serving a learner in one of those states (at the learner's home, school or community setting, by telehealth to the learner's home, or at a location there) needs an RBT-REG credential for that state. Without it, booking and signing need an override and the claim shows a warning. The state list is yours to edit; see state-required credentials. When a registration names its supervising analyst, NeatPractice tells you when that supervision ends.
