Billing
Claim corrections
Review claims whose visits changed after billing and replace, void or keep them.
When a clinician corrects a finalized visit with an addendum that changes what was billed (a code, units, minutes, modifiers, diagnoses, provider or place of service), charges still in review are rebuilt automatically. Charges already on a claim are not changed. The claim waits for you under Corrections in the Billing panel of the main menu.
Read the queue#
Each row is one claim with what changed, line by line, and the correction NeatPractice proposes:
- Replacement claim when services remain to bill;
- Void claim when the addendum removed every service on the claim;
- Void the draft and rebuild when the claim has not left the clinic yet. Open it and choose Void Claim: its changed charges are rebuilt from the corrected visit and go back to charge review.
A claim leaves the queue once a correction of it is on its way.
Act on a claim#
From a row's actions:
- Replace Claim or Void with Payer creates the correction draft (see Correct a claim the payer has). For a replacement, the changed lines are rebuilt and released with your reason; if a rebuilt charge has a hold that cannot be overridden, fix it first.
- No Correction Needed keeps the claim as sent, for example when only the note text changed. Give a reason; it is kept in each charge's history.
- Open Claim shows the claim.
If you cancel a replacement draft, its rebuilt charges wait in charge review for the next replacement of that claim and are never billed on a new claim.
