Fieldwork
Track trainees' supervised fieldwork toward board certification month by month, with restricted and unrestricted hours, the supervised share, contacts and observation, verified by their supervisors and printed.
Trainees working toward board certification log supervised fieldwork every month. Open Documentation > Fieldwork to see each trainee with a fieldwork plan and how the month stands. You see your own fieldwork, the trainees you supervise and the staff on care teams you coordinate.
Start a fieldwork plan#
Click New Plan, pick the Trainee, the Certification the fieldwork counts toward (BCBA or BCaBA), the Fieldwork type (supervised or concentrated supervised fieldwork), the date it started and, if known, the Planned application date. Applications from January 1, 2027 are judged by the 2027 standards; earlier ones by the 2022 standards.
| Each month | 2022 standards | 2027 standards |
|---|---|---|
| Fieldwork hours | 20 to 130 | 20 to 160 |
| Supervised share | 5% (10% concentrated) | 5% (7.5% concentrated) |
| Individual supervision | At least half of the supervised hours | At least half of the supervised hours |
| Supervision contacts | 4 (6 concentrated) | 4 (6 concentrated) |
| Observation with a client | 1 observation | 60 minutes (90 concentrated) |
Across the whole fieldwork, aim for at least 60% unrestricted hours toward the BCBA, or 40% toward the BCaBA. The month shows the share so far against the plan's target.
Log hours#
Open a trainee and click Log Hours: the date, the hours and the activity. Restricted time is delivering services to clients; Unrestricted time is assessment, program design, training staff or caregivers and similar work. The trainee logs their own hours; supervisors can log for them. An entry made in error is voided with a reason; it stays on the month, struck out. Fieldwork records are kept, never deleted, for the board's record retention.
Supervision#
Supervision comes from the supervision records about the trainee: overlapping supervision counts once, records with only this trainee count as individual supervision, and records observed with a client count as observations (and their minutes as observed minutes).
Verify and print#
Once a month has ended, a supervisor of the trainee in that month clicks Verify Month; the verification keeps their name, the time, the totals and whether the month was met (under both standards while no application date is set). Click Print for the monthly fieldwork verification form as a PDF; the 2027 form reports observation in minutes.
