Schedule
Calendar sync
Connect your Google Calendar or Microsoft 365 calendar so outside commitments block your availability in NeatPractice and your appointments show there as busy, with no patient details.
Calendar sync connects a provider's own Google Calendar or Microsoft 365 calendar to NeatPractice, in both directions:
- Busy times come in. Events on your calendar block your availability here. The schedule shades them like hours you do not work, open slots skip them, and booking you over one shows a booking check warning.
- Appointments go out. Your NeatPractice appointments appear on your calendar as private busy events, so people who book you in other tools see the time is taken.
Only times cross between the calendars. NeatPractice never reads what your events are about, and the events it adds say only NeatPractice appointment (or Busy for a block such as lunch), with no patient name, type, location or link.
Calendar sync is for providers. If your profile does not offer it, ask an administrator to add your provider profile.
Connect your calendar#
- Open your profile from the user menu and find Calendar Sync.
- Click Connect Google Calendar or Connect Microsoft 365.
- Sign in to your calendar account and allow NeatPractice to see and add events. You come back to your profile once the connection is made.
The first sync runs right away. After that, NeatPractice syncs about every ten minutes; click Sync Now to sync at once, for example right after you add an event.
What syncs#
| Direction | What | When |
|---|---|---|
| Your calendar to NeatPractice | Busy events from yesterday through the next nine weeks | Every sync; events marked free, cancelled or declined do not count |
| NeatPractice to your calendar | Your appointments from the past week through the next eight weeks | Every sync; a moved appointment moves there too, and a cancelled one is removed |
The card on your profile shows when the last sync ran, how many busy times block your availability and how many appointments are on your calendar.
Choose what syncs#
Click Sync Settings to turn either direction off:
- Block my availability with my calendar's busy times: off stops reading busy times and forgets the ones already read.
- Show my appointments on my calendar as busy: off removes the events NeatPractice added.
Disconnect#
Click Disconnect on the Calendar Sync card. NeatPractice removes the events it added to your calendar, stops using your calendar's busy times and forgets the connection. You can connect again at any time, to the same calendar or the other service.
Calendar sync or calendar feed#
The calendar feed is a read-only subscription link your calendar app checks on its own schedule. Calendar sync writes events straight to your calendar and also brings your busy times back. You can use either one, or both.
