Modalities
List the treatment approaches each discipline uses and the procedure codes each one suggests.
A modality is a treatment approach your therapists use, such as language stimulation or fine motor activities. Each discipline keeps its own list, and a modality can name the procedure codes that usually go with it. Those codes are suggestions only; the therapist always decides what to bill.
Open Setup > Clinical libraries > Modalities to see the list. Anyone with access to Setup can see it; only people whose role can manage clinical libraries can change it.
The starting list#
Every new clinic starts with six speech and six occupational therapy modalities. Rename, reorder or remove any of them to match how your therapists work.
Add a modality#
- Click New Modality.
- Choose the Discipline.
- Enter the Name therapists will see.
- Optionally choose Suggested procedure codes. Only codes on the discipline's procedure code list can be suggested.
- Click Create Modality.
Each name can be used once per discipline.
Edit a modality#
Open the menu on a row and choose Edit to change the name, the order, the suggested codes or Active. The discipline never changes.
Set the order#
Each discipline's modalities are listed in the order you set. Click Reorder, choose a discipline, move modalities up or down and click Save Order.
Deactivate or delete modalities#
Open the menu on a row and choose Deactivate to retire a modality you no longer use; it stays on the list for your records. To delete modalities, tick their rows and click Delete in the bar that appears.
Filter the list#
Use Filter to show one or more disciplines, active or inactive modalities, or to search by name.
Export and print#
Click Export CSV to download the list as a spreadsheet file, or Print for a PDF of the list. See Import, export and print.
