AI summaries
Short AI-written summaries of a chart, an upcoming appointment, a signed note and a patient's intake and outside records, each line linked to the record it came from.
AI summaries give you the gist of a chart before you open every record. Each one is labeled AI, is written only when you click Generate or Refresh, and links every line to the record it was drawn from, so you can check it. Your clinic turns each summary on or off in Documentation Rules.
How summaries work#
- Written on request. Opening a chart never writes a summary. Click Generate the first time, then Refresh when you want an update. Each one uses assistant credits.
- Kept until the records change. A summary stays on the card until something it was built from changes, such as a new note, a booked appointment or a new authorization. It then shows that records changed; click Refresh to bring it up to date.
- Every line has a source. Under each line is a link such as Goals: Speech goal or Changes lately: Daily note, Oct 3, 2026. A line the AI could not tie to a record is left out.
- Consent rules apply. A summary follows your clinic's AI consent choice: with clinic-level consent it runs for every patient who has not opted out; when your clinic asks for consent first, only for a patient whose AI documentation consent covers drafting. A patient who asked for no AI and a visit marked No AI are never summarized. The card says why when a summary is not available.
- Names stay out. Identifying fields such as names, dates of birth, contact details and insurance ids are never sent to the AI.
- Listen. When your clinic turns on read aloud, click Listen on a summary to hear it, and Stop to end it. The voice runs on your own computer; the summary is not sent anywhere.
Patient brief#
On the chart's Overview, the Patient brief card covers, where the chart has them: safety alerts and allergies, what changed lately (notes signed in the last 30 days), goal trends, authorizations and the plan of care, open items that need action, and the next appointment.
Pre-visit brief#
Get ready for a session in a few lines: the last visit in the discipline, the highlights of its note (including what it planned for this session), the goals of the episode's plan and the items due on the chart.
- On My Day, click the sparkle button on an appointment row.
- In a saved appointment, open the Pre-visit brief section. A group appointment shows one brief per patient.
Visit summary and family version#
Open a signed note to find the AI summaries section under the addenda.
- Visit summary is a plain-language summary of what the session worked on, how it went and what is next, for the care team.
- Family version is a draft written for the patient's family. Nothing is shared until the note's provider clicks Review and Approve, edits the wording and approves it. The approved text shows under the draft with when it was approved. The provider can edit it again or click Withdraw.
Intake and records summary#
On the chart's Documents, the Intake and records summary card covers the online intake answers accepted onto the chart, each referral's details and the outside records on file, with anything an evaluator should follow up on. It lists records by category, date and description; it does not read the files themselves.
