Caregiver guidance
See how much caregiver guidance each learner received against the authorized and planned hours, and record caregiver competency checks.
Caregiver guidance (parent training) is part of most ABA plans, and payers expect it to happen. In the learner's chart, open Contacts and choose Caregiver guidance.
Guidance against the target#
The first card shows the caregiver guidance delivered over the last four weeks: the minutes on signed and unsigned visits billed with a caregiver guidance code, not counting voided visits. It compares them with the target, which is the larger of:
- the hours approved authorizations allow for caregiver guidance codes over those weeks, and
- the weekly hours in the latest signed treatment plan for those codes.
When delivery falls under the share set in ABA settings (80 percent unless you change it), the card shows a warning and the learner appears in Oversight.
Competency checks#
A competency check records how well a caregiver used the strategies they were taught. Click New Check, choose the caregiver (a contact on the chart or someone else), who checked and the date, then score each item Met, Not met or Not applicable. The items come from ABA settings.
You can also score a caregiver from the session note: an ABA session note with a caregiver guidance code shows a Caregiver competency block. Click Score Caregiver there and the check belongs to that session, starting with the note's author and date. Signing the note prints each check scored in it, item by item, with the percent met.
Once a check is scored, the Caregiver competency graph shows the percent of items met at each check over time. Enlarge shows it over the whole screen and Export saves it as a PDF or PNG image.
The list shows each check with how many items were met. The second card shows the latest check; a check with items not met also appears in Oversight. Caregiver checks never count toward the learner's mastery. To remove a check recorded by mistake, click Remove and give a reason; the removal is kept in the audit history.
Reports#
- Caregiver guidance delivered (clinical reports): per learner, the guidance hours delivered in the dates you pick against the authorized hours and the plan's minimum.
- ABA intake funnel timing (operational reports): the days from referral to assessment, from assessment to first treatment, and from first treatment to the first caregiver guidance visit.
