EDI enrollments
See which payer enrollments for electronic claims, remittances and eligibility are still waiting.
Before a payer takes electronic claims, sends electronic remittances or answers eligibility checks for a provider, the provider (or the group) is enrolled with that payer through the clearinghouse. Each payer enrollment in Setup keeps a status for each of the three transactions: claims (837), remittances (835) and eligibility (270).
Open Enrollments in the Billing panel of the main menu. Pick providers on the Providers tab to see only their enrollments.
The enrollment list#
The list shows enrollments with a transaction still Pending or Rejected, the longest waiting first. Each row shows the provider and whether the enrollment bills as a group or an individual, the payer and location, the status of each transaction, how many days it has been pending and when the clearinghouse last reported on it. Turn on Show all to see every payer enrollment, or click Filter to narrow by the status of one transaction.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Not required | The payer does not need an enrollment for this transaction. |
| Not started | No enrollment was requested yet. |
| Pending | Requested and in progress at the clearinghouse or the payer. |
| Enrolled | Live: the transaction can be used. |
| Rejected | The payer or clearinghouse refused the request; correct it and request again. |
Sync with the clearinghouse#
NeatPractice asks the clearinghouse for enrollment statuses every night and updates the list. Choose Sync Now to ask right away. An enrollment matches the clearinghouse by the payer id and the billing NPI: the location's billing NPI (or the practice group NPI) for group billing, the provider's NPI for individual billing. Statuses set to Not required stay as you set them.
You can still change statuses by hand in the provider's payer enrollments in Setup.
