Notifications

Choose which NeatPractice notifications reach you in the app and by email.

The bell in the top bar lists your notifications. Open Setup and choose Notifications to decide which kinds you receive in the app and which also arrive by email.

Choose what shows in the bell#

Some kinds of notification can be turned off for you alone. In the Notifications section, switch off In App for a kind and click Save Changes:

KindWhat it coversWho sees it
Messages"New message" notices when a colleague writes to you in Messages, and notices when a family writes in the family portalAnyone who can use staff messages or open patient charts
BillingInvoices and plan changesAnyone who can see the clinic's plan

Turning Messages off stops the bell notice and the push for new staff messages and for family portal messages and journal entries; the conversation still shows the new message, and the Messages page still counts it as unread. Account, security and system notices cannot be turned off. The bell's filter pills include Messages, so you can list only those.

Response notifications#

Under Response notifications, choose how you hear that patients confirmed, cancelled or asked for another time from a reminder: Email me for each response, Email me a daily summary of responses, or both. These are your own choices, and the emails start once reminders are sending. See Communication.

Push notifications#

When your clinic uses the installed NeatPractice app (see Offline collection), Push notifications turns on alerts for this phone or tablet: a session starting in about 15 to 30 minutes, a note due or overdue, a note waiting for your co-signature, a note returned to you, a document sent to you and staff messages. Click Turn On and allow notifications when the device asks; do it on each device you want alerts on. A push never names a patient or shows note text. It says only what kind of item waits, such as "You have documentation to finish", and tapping it opens the page it is about (the note, your schedule or the document queue), asking you to sign in if needed. On iPhone and iPad, add NeatPractice to the Home Screen first.

Choose which pushes you get#

Under Push notifications to receive, turn off the kinds you do not want on your devices and click Save Changes. Turning a kind off stops the push on every device; the notice still shows in the bell.

Your devices#

Your devices lists every phone, tablet and browser that gets your pushes at this clinic, with when it was turned on and when it last got one. The browser you are using is marked This device. Click Send Test to send a test notification to all of them. To stop pushes on a device you no longer have, such as a lost phone, choose Remove in its row's actions.

Notices from the NeatPractice team#

The NeatPractice team sometimes posts a notice for everyone in your clinic, such as planned maintenance or a new feature. It shows up in the bell like any other notification, and a notice with an end date disappears on its own once that time passes.
