Pausing or cancelling your plan

Pause your plan for a leave of absence, resume it, or cancel it with a guided checklist that covers your records, retention and the end date.

Owners and anyone whose role can change the plan can pause or cancel it from Setup, Subscription, in the Pause or Cancel panel. Plans managed by the NeatPractice team (Enterprise) are changed through support instead.

Pause the plan#

Pausing suits a leave of absence or a quiet season.

  1. Click Pause Plan.
  2. Optionally turn on Resume on a date and pick a day within the next six months. Leave it off to resume by hand.
  3. Click Pause Plan.

While the plan is paused:

  • Billing stops; nothing is charged for the paused time.
  • Everyone can still sign in, read and print records, export data and finish notes already started.
  • Booking new appointments and starting new visits wait until the plan resumes.

Click Resume Plan to start billing and booking again at any time.

Cancel the plan#

Click Cancel Plan to open a short checklist:

  1. Download your records. Owners can request a full copy under Data export in Organization settings. Confirm you have one, or that you do not need it.
  2. What happens to your records. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for. After that the clinic moves to the Free plan: records stay stored and readable, and paid features stop. Clinical and billing records are kept at least seven years. Records are erased only if an owner closes the clinic (Closing your clinic account).
  3. Tell us why. Choose the main reason and add a comment if you like.

Click Cancel Plan to finish. The panel then shows the end date. Until that day, click Keep Plan to withdraw the cancellation.
