Diagnosis favorites
Keep a short, ordered list of the ICD-10-CM codes each discipline uses most.
Diagnosis favorites are the short list of ICD-10-CM codes each discipline uses most often, kept in the order your team wants to see them.
Open Setup > Billing setup > Diagnosis Favorites to see the list. Anyone with access to Setup can see it; only people whose role can manage codes can change it.
The starting list#
Every new clinic starts with common speech and occupational therapy favorites:
| Discipline | Codes |
|---|---|
ST | F80.0, F80.1, F80.2, F80.81, F80.9, R47.01, R47.1, R48.2, R48.8, R13.10, R13.12, F84.0 |
OT | F82, R27.8, R62.50, R62.0, M62.81, F84.0, R13.11, R63.32 |
Add, reorder or remove any of them. A favorite you delete is not added back.
Add a favorite#
- Click Add Favorite.
- Choose the Discipline.
- In Diagnosis code, type a code or part of its description and pick it from the list.
- Add an optional Note for your team, such as when to use the code.
- Click Add Favorite.
Only a billable code that is valid today can be a favorite. Category headers, which claims never accept, are not offered. If the catalog has announced that the code retires, NeatPractice adds it and tells you the retirement date and the replacement codes.
Edit a favorite#
Open the menu on a row and choose Edit to change the note, the order or Active. The code and the discipline never change; to use another code, add it as a new favorite.
Set the order#
Click Reorder, choose a discipline, move favorites up or down and click Save Order.
Retiring codes#
ICD-10-CM changes every October 1. A favorite with an announced retirement shows a Retires badge with the date; hover over it to see the replacement codes. A favorite that is no longer billable shows Not valid today; replace it with the new code.
Remove favorites#
Open the menu on a row and choose Deactivate to hide a favorite without losing it. To delete favorites, tick their rows and click Delete in the bar that appears. The code itself stays in the catalog.
Print or share the list#
Click Export CSV to download the favorites of every discipline, with each code's description, note, order and status, as a file you can open in a spreadsheet. Click Print for a PDF of the list. See Import, export and print.
Filter the list#
Use Filter to show one or more disciplines, active or inactive favorites, or to search by code.
