Billing

Claim batches

See every group of claims sent together, with billed, allowed and paid totals and a batch report.

Each time you submit claims to the clearinghouse, or print claims for mailing, the claims that went out together form a batch. Open Batches in the Billing panel of the main menu to see them, newest first. You need permission to read billing records.

Each batch has a reference number (such as B1001) and shows:

  • Sent: when the batch was submitted or printed.
  • Method: Electronic for a clearinghouse submission, Paper for a print.
  • Claims and Units: how many claims and service units it holds.
  • Billed: the total of the claim lines.
  • Allowed: what the payers allowed. Once a payer pays or denies a line, its allowed amount is the one on the explanation of benefits; before that, it is the allowed amount from the payer's fee schedule. A batch marked Under billed has at least one claim the payer allows less than you billed.
  • Paid: what the payers have paid on those claims so far. Reversed payments are taken out.

Use the date range, Method and the reference search above the list to find a batch. The list shows the claims at the location chosen in the switcher at the top of the menu.

A claim that was not actually sent (the send could not start or failed before reaching the clearinghouse) is left out of its batch. A claim fixed after a rejection and sent again appears in its later batch too.
